- Created a series of Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) courses and curriculum that will be offered to start Fall Semester 2019.
- Designed a Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) Certificate of Proficiency, based on the Department of Labor’s Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM) and local industry needs. If approved by the Board of Trustees this semester, it will be the sUAS (aka small drones) program in the State of Utah.
- Created a Junior-status articulation agreement with the Geography Department at the University of Utah and our Geographic Science AS program and certified online evaluator for online courses at SLCC using the Quality Matters certification program.
- I have organized a Geography/GIS Symposium Fall Semester 2018 with faculty from the Geography Department at the University of Utah. The symposium focused on how GIS is used in health science (e.g., Ebola, malaria, West Nile, influenza, and more).
- Redesigned the GIS Certificate of Proficiency and Geospatial Technology AAS degree that aligns with the Department of Labor’s Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM).
- Sitting Committee member for four tenure-track faculty within the Division of Natural Sciences.

- Designed and created GEOG 1700: Natural Disasters (PS) as an online, Quality Matters approved a course in partnership with Maura Hahnenberger and eLearning.

Utah Geographic Information Council
Active member of the state-wide GIS community, the Utah Geographic Information Council (UGIC)
- The Utah Geographic Information Council (UGIC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to lead the effective application of geographic information in Utah.
- UGIC Education Committee’s mission is to increase the awareness and use of geographic information in education. The current focus is working with educators to incorporate geospatial learning into the K-12 curriculum.
- Assist with “GIS Days” throughout Utah. GIS Day showcases geospatial technologies to students to make them aware of the possibilities and capabilities of geographic information technologies
- Host an educator workshop as part of the UGIC annual conference. This workshop provides hands on learning and networking opportunities for teachers
- Provide support for educational mapping workshops and events throughout Utah
- Organize an educator mentor program for teachers and classrooms. The program connects teachers with local geospatial professionals willing to provide technical and subject support for incorporating geographic information into the classroom.

Actively engage with Utah Education Network to offer professional development opportunities for Geography and Social Studies secondary educators.

- Partnership with the National GeoTech Center for Excellence, the project was an effort to build capacity for two-year college educators to utilize the Department of Labor’s GTCM. Goal was to outline what the essential elements and learning outcomes should be for geospatial courses to align with the GTCM.

Integrated Geospatial Technology and Training (iGETT)
The Integrated Geospatial Technology and Training (iGETT) Project was a National Science Foundation funded partnership with NASA, the United States Geologic Survey (USGS), and the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE), and multiple community colleges around the nation.
- College partner, NSF funded Integrated Geospatial Education & Technology Training (November 2012-2017)
- Participated in the High School Integrated Geospatial Education and Technology Training (HiGETT) Workshop (April 4-5, 2011) on how to implement geospatial technology within high school curriculum. The workshop was hosted by NASA Goddhard Space Flight.
